Thanks to Jean for letting us know that we had been remiss in announcing the final winner of the What's in a Name Challenge.
The congratulations (and the prize) went to Jo-Jo at Jo-Jo Loves to Read!
Of course, the congratulations extend to all who participated and all who finished the challenge. Thank you all!

so who finished the challenge???
The year's coming to an end, so I guess it's time to see who's finished the What's in a Name 2 challenge. If you have finished, please leave a comment saying so. It would also be nice to hear which was your favorite read from the challenge. :)
To be entered for the end of challenge prize, you must (by January 1, 2010):
1. finish all your books for the challenge (obviously this is an honor thing--I won't be checking up on you)
and
2. leave a comment on THIS post saying that you finished.

This has been a really busy year for me, and I apologize that I have not been the best challenge host. I'm afraid that next year is only going to be more busy, so I'm afraid I just can't commit to hosting for a third year. I really love this challenge, though, so I hope that someone will feel the urge to pick it up and run with it...
Thanks to everyone who has participated this year and last!
Happy reading!

mini contest winner
You guys are so creative! We had so much fun reading all the wonderful suggestions for categories. Good thing picking a favorite wasn't part of the contest, because I never could have done it! Luckily random.org did the choosing for me.
And it chose Jean as the winner!
Congratulations, Jean! And thanks to all of you who played along!!!

an apology and a contest
First of all, I'm sorry that I haven't been a better host. This year has just been really busy for me. Who knew life could be this crazy when you're only twelve.
Second, we've been hoping that the Mr. Linkys would come back, but so far they haven't. I noticed they are back on some blogs, but not on this one. And I'm not sure what to do about it. Many of you have left the links to your reviews in the comments. Thank you! I think that's the perfect solution for now.
And now finally, another contest. To be entered in the drawing for a $15 Amazon gift card, simply answer this question:
What do YOU think would make an interesting category for What's in a Name?
Drawing will be during the week of Sept. 1st.

to answer a few questions
Hi folks. This is Debi. I'm Annie's mom, and I help her with this challenge, but it is her challenge. I'm just popping in to make this quick post, because there were a few questions, and Miss Annie is gone for the day.
First of all, the posts about winners of last year's contests are all on last year's What's in a Name? blog. (Including the winner of the drawing for the final prize.)
As for this year's contests, they will be randomly sprinkled throughout the year. For the first one, all you had to do to enter was answer the questions Annie asked in the comments section. We used random.org to pull a winner from the answer-ees. In general, that is how all mini-contests throughout the year will work. For the end-of-year prize, Annie will make a post asking anyone who has finished reading all their books to let her know in the comments, and then a winner will be chosen in the same fashion.
Anzlitlovers and Bingo, I hope that answered your questions. If not, let us know.

First Contest of the Year
I'm so excited about how many books everyone has read so far! I wish I could read every single review, but I just can't keep up! Thanks again, everyone, for participating!
Ready for the first contest? Don't worry, you don't even have to have read your first book yet. All you have to do is leave a comment on this post answering these simple questions.
1. Which category was the hardest to find a book for?
2. Have you read any of your books yet?
3. If so, which categories have you already tackled?
I'll draw a winner on April 1st. The winner will receive a $10 Amazon gift certificate. (Make sure I have a way of contacting you, in case you're the winner.)
